Our Story
Dr. Nanda Shivagunde’s dream of serving humanity was shaped by a deep personal pain — she could not be with her ailing father in his final days due to her medical education and family responsibilities. That regret stayed in her heart, and she resolved that no elder should ever feel abandoned or uncared for.
In 2003, with just five residents in a small rented house in Solapur, she started Adhar Care Center. She personally cooked, cleaned, and cared for the residents, often staying awake at night to comfort them. What began as a daughter’s tribute to her father gradually grew into a sanctuary of compassion.
Today, Adhar has expanded into multiple centers, giving dignity, medical care, and family-like love to the elderly, bedridden, and destitute. Dr. Shivagunde turned her personal sorrow into a mission of hope, ensuring that the most vulnerable can live their lives with respect and care.
