Our Story
Old age is not the end of life. It is the beginning of a new life. Nobody understands this truth. Owing to rapid changes in the family structure of today, there is a great demand for the Old age Home.
The Home for the aged, called “ M.S.P.C. Senior Citizens Home” managed by The Madras Society for the Protection of Children , Chennai was actually started functioning from the year 2003 and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Thiru Justice R,Jayasimha Babu, Judge, High Court of Judicature, Madras with the object to provide shelter and food at affordable price to the needy senior citizens who desired to live peacefully and respectably in the remaining years of their lives without causing inconvenience to their near and dear ones.
The Senior Citizens’ Home has single occupied 23 rooms and all the residents are living in harmony.The rooms are spacious with bath attached, airy and well furnished. Hygienic, nutritious vegetarian food is served to the residents and special diet on medical advice or on request is provided. Solar water heaters were installed to supply hot water to the residents. R.O. water machine is installed for drinking and cooking purposes to.
The Senior Citizens’ Home provides tamil and english daily newspapers for the benefit of the residents. Medical facilities are provided to the residents and a General Physician, visits the Home daily for routine check ups. In more serious health problem cases, the local guardians of the inmates are informed about their health conditions.
The children of the MSPC Children Home spent some time daily with the residents of The Senior Citizens’ Home . A well-furnished auditorium hall is available in the home and the residents with the home children are regularly conducting Bhajans.
Every year the Home celebrates elder’s day in a befitting manner in the month of October. During the celebration, Cultural programs are arranged, gift hampers are presented to the residents followed by dinner. Eminent people of the society are invited to grace the occasion.
Important National festivals and other functions are celebrated in a befitting manner. It also provides Special Lunch to the residents on festival days. In View of the great demand for accommodation from Senior Citizens additional rooms were constructed on the first floor.
This home has stairs as well as ramp to facilitate free movement of Senior Citizens’ residing in first floor. Some of the residents living in the home have appreciated the services rendered by the home and as token of their appreciation some of the Senior Citizens’ have donated amount as endowment for the development of the Society’s activities
