Our Story
Good Samaritan Woman society was founded by Smti. Neithonuo T. Liegise with some likeminded women, who had a heart of compassion for the underprivileged section and a burden to uplift them. Their main focus and priority is to provide quality health care and recreation for the needy senior citizens in the state. The society was registered under Society Registration Act of 1860, Regd. no. H/Rs. 116 dated 31st July 1998.
The office of the society was first established at lower PWD, Kohima and later shifted to the present location, in their own building at Meriema, below New High Court, Kohima, Nagaland.
The Senior Citizens in Nagaland (Nagaland Senior Citizens Forum) have acknowledged and supported the vision and dedication of the Good Samaritan Women Society working for the cause of elderly care in the state, and voiced to the Government for allotment of land for the construction of Old Age Home, Kohima. The application was approved by the Government in the month of October 2010, and 1 acre of land was alloted to the society for construction of the same.
With the contribution of Mr. Heinswading the husband of the chief functionary, relatives, well wishers and various organizations collectively contributed to the construction of the building and it was inaugurated by Smti. Kaisa Rio, the lady wife of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland on 6th Sep 2013. The building was occupied for functioning of the project.
