Our Story
With the gradual decline of traditional family bonds and societal values, many elderly individuals face emotional and physical hardships during the later years of their lives. Those who once enjoyed love, care, and companionship within their families often find themselves without support or affection. Recognizing this growing concern, it became essential to create a safe and nurturing environment where senior citizens could live with dignity, peace of mind, and freedom from anxiety.
With the blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, JSS Hiriyara Mane was established on 11th August 2000 in Mysuru. The institution is dedicated to providing compassionate care and a secure living space for elderly residents.
There are two free senior citizens’ homes in Mysuru where residents are provided with complimentary lodging, boarding, and medical care. To ensure active engagement and meaningful living, physically fit residents are encouraged to participate in productive activities such as making chalk pieces and crafting garlands from silk cocoons. Daily routines include morning and evening mass prayers, fostering spiritual well-being and community bonding.
Residents also have access to a well-equipped library stocked with newspapers, magazines, and books, allowing them to spend their time reading peacefully. National and religious festivals are celebrated with enthusiasm, featuring special meals, recreational games, and prize distributions to create joy and togetherness. The home is managed efficiently by a Manager along with seven dedicated supporting staff members.
