Our Story
Red Swastik Society is a registered public charitable trust run by self-reliant Samaritans. Since its inception in 2001, the society has been dedicated to serving humanity through various health-related services. With a humble beginning, we now take pride in having reached nearly 60,00,000 needy, neglected, and disadvantaged individuals through our committed network of volunteers across 61 branches in India, without any discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, colour, or gender.
In Hindu tradition, Vanprastha represents a stage of willingly stepping away from worldly pleasures. However, in today’s context, it often means a forced withdrawal due to changing family structures and circumstances. With increasing life expectancy, shrinking living spaces, and the rise of nuclear families in metros and semi-urban areas, many elders struggle to find their place within the household. These shifts often create emotional distance, making seniors feel less valued or significant in their families.
Understanding this growing concern, the Red Swastik Society decided to initiate a project called “Shiwalaya – A Home for Dignified Living for Elders.”
Shiwalaya is designed to offer space, comfort, affordability, and a respectful environment for elders who wish to live a peaceful and fulfilling life in the later years of their journey. It aims to bring a fresh, positive perspective to the lives of senior citizens.
